Camassia cusickii is starting to pop up in two places in the back yard. Dodacatheon /shooting star coming up (above), pulchellum (magenta) and a white one, maybe Dentatum (photos of both below). Red Floweering Current and Indian Plum leaf buds appearing, those are usually the first leaves to come out.

Mole season
Apparently this is now birthing season for the northwest mole, Scapanus townsendii, and new superficial sidetunnels (and mounds) are expected in the spring for the expanding family. They have their favored spots in the yard, and I’ve already transplanted out a small patch of garden that i bordered with stones, called “mole hill”.
