Can’t tell if Spring is here!?

Weather still cool, with too much clouds and rain , especially when i’m off. Occasional sun breaks to give us rays of hope. There were several sailing regattas out on Puget Sound, it was a nice day today for it.

Our front yard pond has some tadpoles in it. Several weeks ago a tree frog came around and entertained us for a while. We found some egg clusters in the pond, and now there are tadpoles. In the meantime, all is quiet.

Baby crow literally on the fence, and if he lands in my back yard, his parents will scream and dive bomb me. I “encouraged” him to the other side of the fence by tossing sticks his way to scare him, while bravely hiding behind some shrubs. Other baby birds also seen and more welcome, as their parents don’t attack me.

Planted out the air layerings of ceonothus velutinous / Snowbrush (2) and Hairy Manzanita (1).
Hopefully they will provide evergreen screen from the west, should they survive. The ceonothus have been layered a year, hairy manzanita about two years. They had small roots, but they are roots, nonetheless. I used gel rooting hormone and planted them near the fence at the border. This is Hairy Manzanita below.

Soon to have Rudbeckia flowers, at least if the giant slugs don’t eat them first. Lots of newly blooming flowers:blue aquilegia, sweet cicily, heuchera, penstemons, camas cusackii, white shooting star, sea thrift, desert yellow daisy
